Why Do Men and Women Cheat?

By Timothy Cole Infidelity or extramarital affairs have been extensively studied over the past two decades and a lot has been discovered. Unfortunately, most of the evidence indicates being faithful to a single romantic partner is difficult to do. To start with, human sexuality is incredibly complex. Decisions about our sexual behavior are typically not planned in advance. Few people intentionally plan on committing infidelity (at least the first time it happens). When making promises to be faithful, most people are serious and have every intention of keeping their word. But while people generally have the best intentions when making such promises, human behavior is not always governed by the fact that vows were taken and promises were made. When it comes to making decisions about love and betrayal, logic and reason have a difficult time competing with our emotions for control. Simply put, logic and reason often take the backseat to our emotions when it comes to love and romance. So from time to time, our emotions can get the best of us and lead us down paths we had no intention of traveling. In short, most infidelity occurs, not because it is planned, but because people find themselves in situations where their emotions lead them astray. What types of situations influence our emotions and bring out the worst in our behavior? Being close or interdependent on someone other than ones spouse Being around someone who is sexually interested Spending a lot of time one-on-one with someone else Not feeling close or connected to ones spouse (e.g., feeling lonely, being upset or angry with a spouse, etc.) Situations that create the sense of opportunity - the feeling that one will not get caught (e.g., meeting someone in private, out of town trips, a lot of time away form a spouse, etc.). Situations involving alcohol or drugs For more information about why people cheat and what can be done about it, please visit the truthaboutdeception.com. Copyright 2004 - 2006 BlueSky Partners, LLC. Scientology: The New Cult of Lies

By Anthony Smith Before we begin lets look at what this cult believes. Scientology; Philosophical religion founded by Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, 191186, b. Tilden, Nebr. Hubbard’s book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health (1950) first set forth the basis of his philosophy, offering an alternative path to overcoming physical and mental stress. The church believes that a person’s spirit can be cleared of past painful experiences through a process called “auditing,” freeing the person of the burdens that interfere with happiness and self-realization. The first church was established in Los Angeles in 1954. A prolific author, Hubbard wrote many works on Scientology and is also noted for his science-fiction novels and short stories. The church has confronted suspicions from many sides during its history. The American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association questioned the tenets of Scientology during the 1950s, and in the 1960s, the governments of England, Australia, and the United States opened investigations into church activities, particularly for suspected practices of tax evasion. The church’s status as a religion was, however, ultimately established in those and many other countries. The church has continued to face governmental challenges, perhaps most notably in Germany, where it has been accused of being anti-democratic and its members have experienced personal discrimination. Some, including some former members, view the church as an elaborate cult, a charge the church and many religious scholars deny. In 1996 there were more than 3,000 churches, missions, and groups worldwide, with headquarters in Los Angeles. Gal 1:7-10 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade (To convince by argument, or reasons offered; or to convince by reasons suggested by reflection or deliberation, or by evidence presented in any manner to the mind.)men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. We as ministers of Christ are not in the people pleasing business, just as Paul stated, but we are sent into the world as sheep to preach the truth. Luke 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Scientology, as well as all other false religions are in the business of pleasing man, offering an easy fix for all of man-kinds problems. Scientology has taken the basic fundimentials of the Bible and twisted it around to suite their own agenda. Scientology takes the weaknesses of an individual and prays upon them. The reason I decided to write to you about this subject is for the simple reason that this cult is growing like a cancer, decieveing the rich and the poor. Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Ref.Gal 1:8, Gal.1:9; 1Co.16:22; 2Co.11:13, 2Co.11:14; 1Ti.1:19, 1Ti.1:20; Tit.3:10; Rev.22:18, Rev.22:19) L. Ron Hubbard is one of these false prophets. I have read about this cult. Any Gospel that is not of God is a cult and a deception. I am just an old country boy, and when a dog has flees we say a dog has flees. This cult says when a dog has flees it is a physiological problem that is in need of restructuring of its mind to get rid of its problems. Paul stated;do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. The statement states plainly that we are not to please man but to please God. For by us in an attempt to please mankind and His ideas of sanctification we would become not the servants of God but the servant of Satan. For you cannot serve two masters, you cannot serve God and Satan. Scientology believes and teaches that for any problem of the body or mine, doctors and medications are detrimental to the security of the mind and body. Which is to say that medications that people receive are harmful to the individual. But we must look at one of the writers of the new testament, Luke, The evangelist, was a Gentile. The date and circumstances of his conversion are unknown. According to his own statement (Luke 1:2), he was not an eye-witness and minister of the word from the beginning. It is probable that he was a physician in Troas, and was there converted by Paul, to whom he attached himself. He accompanied him to Philippi, but did not there share his imprisonment, nor did he accompany him further after his release in his missionary journey at this time (Acts 17:1). The last notice of the beloved physician is in 2Ti. 4:11. He is here mentioned as a physician, and in his Gospel, and in the Acts , there are incidental evidences that he was acquainted with the science of medicine, and that he observed the events which he has recorded with the eye of one who practiced the healing art. There are many passages in Paul’s epistles, as well as in the writings of Luke, which show the extent and accuracy of his medical knowledge. Paul wrote of Luke; “Luke the beloved physician” (one of “my fellow workers unto the kingdom of God which have been a comfort unto me”) is distinguished from those “of the circumcision.” If being a sin or detrimental to the health of mankind, Paul would have never called him the beloved physician, nor would God have called Him as a minister of the Gospel. Jesus also noted in Mat 9:12, But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. Jesus never stated that the physician was a demonic practice but He used physicians as an example to explain the spiritual side of mankind and his sickness of the spirit. As we look further into this cult we find many rejections of the Bible in its belief. Scientology comprises a body of knowledge which extends from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these are: 1. Man is an immortal spiritual being. 2. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. 3. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized. 4. Scientology further holds man to be basically good, and that his spiritual salvation depends upon himself and his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe. 5. Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is asked to believe anything on faith. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by applying its principles and observing or experiencing the results. 6. The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom for the individual. Lets deal with these six statements. 1. Taken from the Bible. Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Mar 9:44 Where their worm (Soul, Spirit, Immortality) dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 2. Contrary to Scripture. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 3. Contrary to Scripture. Capabilities are unlimited. 1Co 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 4. Contrary to Scripture further holds man to be basically good, and that his spiritual salvation depends upon himself Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 5. Contrary to Scripture. Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is asked to believe anything on faith. Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The margin here is, ground or confidence. There is scarcely any verse of the New Testament more important than this, for it states what is the nature of all true faith, and is the only definition of it which is attempted in the Scriptures. Eternal life depends on the existence and exercise of faith Mark 16:16, and hence, the importance of an accurate understanding of its nature. The word rendered substance hupostasis - occurs in the New Testament only in the following places. In 2Co.9:4; 2Co.11:17; Heb.3:14, where it is rendered confident and confidence; Faith gives reality or substance to things hoped for. The word properly means that which is placed under; then ground, basis, foundation, support. Then it means also reality, substance, existence, in contradistinction from what is unreal, imaginary, or deceptive. Passow. It seems to me, therefore, that the word here has reference to something which imparts reality in the view of the mind to those things which are not seen, and which serves to distinguish them from those things which are unreal and illusive. 6. Contrary to Scripture. is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom James 1:26-27 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Wesley states; The only true religion in the sight of God, is this, to visit - With counsel, comfort, and relief. The fatherless and widows - Those who need it most. In their affliction - In their most helpless and hopeless state. And to keep himself unspotted from the world - From the maxims, tempers, and customs of it. But this cannot be done, till we have given our hearts to God, and love our neighbor as ourselves. The choice is yours are you going to kill flees with changing the mind of the dog or are you going to get some flee powder? How to Choose a Lawn Care Service

By Matt Morrison Lawn care service companies offer many services such as renovation, mowing, aerating, pest control and fertilizing. Any service you may be considering should always follow a healthy lawn program. You can determine if a service meets the requirements of a proper lawn plan by answering several of the following questions. Most states require lawn care companies to be licensed and the qualifications vary from state to state. If the company you are considering is licensed, they are probably a reputable company that is operating legally. Make sure that the company is licensed if your state requires it. Check the track record of the company. Ask neighbors, friends or anyone who has used the company before if they were satisfied with their service. You can also call the Better Business Bureau to see if they have received any complaints. Another good check is to establish from the state pesticide regulatory agency if the company has any history of violations. Are they affiliated with a professional lawn care association? Often members of these associations stay up to date with improvements in the lawn care field. Are they willing to help you understand the problems and solutions pertaining to your lawn? Sometimes you will be performing some of the lawn care tasks on your own, such as watering and it is essential that you comprehend your part in keeping the lawn in good shape. Ask the company what pesticides it is planning on applying to your lawn and the reason for using that particular pesticide. Every pesticide should be legally registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and have an EPA registration number on the label. If the company cant or wont answer your questions about the chemicals it uses, you can call the National Pesticide Information Center toll-free at (1-800-858-7378). Candle Making An Ancient Technique that is Now a Homegrown Hobby

By John Gibb Candles have been used throughout human history to make light at night times. Though we use electrical lights now, people still keep candles for emergencies. Scented candles are lit or used as decoration, and some use candle for meditation or prayer as the peaceful, natural light often brings a spiritual feeling. In ancient times and candles would be used as timekeepers, and also in recent history in the coal mining industry. Candles are made from wax and have a wick usually made from string. The wick is lit and draws the wax up. Many people make their own candle for personal use or for sale, and the process is relatively simple. People have been making candles as far back as the ancient Egyptians, and the materials used have changed a lot. Early candles used fish oils, insects and seeds to make the wax, and cultures all over the world have different methods of adding perfume. Firstly a candle maker needs to melt wax. In modern times the wax is usually made from tallow, which is fat from cows or sheep, though in the past other materials have been used. The wax will liquefy at high temperatures but it must be monitored carefully as it will produce highly flammable vapours at temperatures around 300F. Moulds can be purchased with which to make the candles. These usually have a hole through which the wick is fed. The mould is turned upside down and the other end of the wick is tied to something such as a skewer. This is to keep it vertical so that it will run from one end of the candle to the other straight down the middle. The holes in the mould are sealed with special putty or metal tape, and the wax is poured in. As the wax dries it will shrink, so holes must be made in it to allow it to shrink without trapping air. These holes are filled in later with more wax. These home made candles are often put into glass containers and become a centrepiece for a display or mood lighting for a special occasion. Rules For Winning Interviews

By Shelley Worth 1.Know your past achievements. An achievement is something that excited you, gave you a feeling of pride, something that you enjoyed doing. Each achievement is made up of factors that have made you successful: creativity, for example, or management, directing, leading, or selling. 2. Do your research. Gather and analyse information about the company and the companies competition. Your painstaking research should include: what the company produces, who the companys customers are, what their culture is like, and if they have a company mission and, if so, what it is. Also find out if they are growing and why, what their plans are for the future, and who their primary competition is. Your knowledge about them will not only contribute to your self-confidence, but also show that you have sincere interest in them. 3. Answer all questions directly. Dont get long-winded or go off on unrelated tangents. The best insurance for a direct response is to listen: do your company research; and know your skills, achievements, values, and personal qualities. Listening and preparation are the keys to a winning presentation at an interview. 4. Be prepared to answer personal questions. Your personality and core values are strongly considered in a competitive market. Every person counts. You will not only contribute to the profitability of the company but also to its culture. You may be asked, What are your strengths and weaknesses? Describe your best or worst boss What are your three top values? 5. Balance listening with telling your story. Do not interrupt and sit back (dont slouch) when the interviewer is talking. Be brief when its your turn to tell your story or answer a question. Pause and check in by asking, Would you like me to continue? or Am I answering your question? or Is there any aspect of my background that is of most interest? 6. Focus on what you can do for them. Employers are interested in how you can solve their problems and work with their customers. Do not operate out of a job description mentality that emphasises title, position, and narrowly defined responsibilities. Today, businesses are focusing on the customer. They look for people whose primary concern is the customer and the company and who want to roll up their sleeves and get to work. 7. Let the employer raise the issue of compensation. Remember this golden rule: If you bring up money first, youve lost. All employers want to hire the best person for the job, especially in a competitive marketplace. Theyll make you an offer if youve done your homework and have shown then the relevancy of your experience and ability to their needs. If they ask, What would you like? respond, Id like you to make me an offer. Then youll have additional significant information from which to think over their proposal and to counteroffer and negotiate. 8. Be bold state your interest and why. In a competitive business market, employers hire people who know what they want and why. Often interviewers will not be as prepared as you are. So do your personal and company research. If the company and the specific job interest you, say so and why. For example, the organisation may have similar values to yours regarding their respect for employee growth and development, or their product/service could contribute to the environment in a way in which you believe. 9. Relate your past experience to their needs. Hearsay is that all employers are looking for employees with experience in their specific industry but maybe not!! Be prepared to demonstrate how your experience and skills are allied with their needs. For example, tell a story about how you consistently met customers needs. Also give examples of your fair and productive management style. Excellence in customer service and management is highly transferable if you can clearly demonstrate how. Preventing The Runaway Candidate

By William Werksman Municipal and law enforcement officials in Georgia are still calculating the final costs associated with the runaway bride. Much like the runaway bride, the runaway candidate can have a devastating effect upon a potential employer. In todays competitive market for top candidates, most employers consider a candidate onboard once they have accepted the job and signed their offer letter. I would counter were not at the finish line, or honeymoon, just yet. Lurking the in darkness, is the dreaded fall-off and counter offer. A fall off occurs when the candidate has accepted a position and then decides to stay at their current employer or take another competitive position without warning or notice. The counter offer occurs when the candidate proceeds to resign and is financially induced to stay with their current employer. Either way, the potential employer loses in the end as a once promising addition to your team makes the wrong decision. The client employer can protect their investment in the recruitment process by following these steps during the transition period between offer acceptance and start date: 1. Make personal contact with the candidate: As the hiring manager, you can count of your HR department to take care of all the paperwork and assorted material necessary to the new hire process. You are responsible for the non-tangible events in the new hire process. By this time, you should have no hesitation in simply lifting the phone and calling the candidate to check in and make certain things are going well. In the event a direct contact is not possible by phone, send a personal email to the candidate and establish direct communication. 2. Set out an agenda/plan for the first day: Candidates are naturally apprehensive about starting at a new job. Try to diffuse this apprehension by verbally telling the candidate what to expect on the first day of work. Explain that you will be there to assist them in the transition and introductions to other members of the team. If at all possible, schedule an introductory lunch with team or department members during the first week to break the ice. 3. Leave the door open for any questions: Again, please remember this is a transition period for the candidate. They are going for the known to the unknown. Let them know they can come to you with any questions or concerns prior to the first day. Make certain they understand your door, or at the very least, your telephone or email is always open to answer any question or concerns. A few moments creating a welcoming atmosphere and climate will go a long way in the recruiting process and help prevent fall offs and counter offer situations. As the hiring manager, you have invested in the recruiting process of finding and securing the right candidate. Now, make it all the way to the finish line. Basic Trade Show Success Tips

By Dick Wheeler Ever wonder why some trade show exhibitors succeed while others do not? Ever think that making a statement at a large trade show is impossible to do? You are not alone. There is help, however, for those who want to have a successful trade show display at a major trade show. Lets take the example of the 16th annual RSA Conference, the world’s leading information security conference and exposition that was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco in February, 2007. It had more than 17,000 attendees seeking networking and education programs. There were more than 340 exhibitors, 19 educational tracks and 220 business and technical sessions on a wide-range of topics. The keynote addresses were from Bill Gates, John Thompson, General Colin Powell and Ray Kurzweil. The Conference also had 40+ Peer2Peer sessions, Town Hall Events with FTC Commission Debra Platt Majoras and two major exposition attractions: the Interactive Testing Challenge and Innovation Station. The overarching goal of RSA Conference is to arm information security professionals with the tools they need to excel in today’s industry,” said Sandra Toms LaPedis, general manager and area vice president of RSA Conferences, based in San Mateo, California. This example may seem like an overwhelming challenge to the trade show exhibitor, but, according to LaPedis, there are trade show basics that can help trade show exhibitors succeed. They are: Have a Strategy You should meet with your peers to develop your trade show strategy. Is it to increase your database of new prospects? Or is it to close business immediately? Do you want to introduce a new product or highlight the capabilities of an existing product? Having a firm understanding of your mission at the trade show will help develop your pre-show promotion, onsite activities, and post show follow up. Clarity in Booth Signage Never assume that people understand what you do and how it can help them. It is important to be clear and concise in your message. Tell your trade show attendees what you do by using trade show booth design signage that clearly states what you offer. In security, it can be authentication, firewall, networking products, etc. Do not crowd your signage with a lot of text or assume people know brand names for products. Keep it clear; and focused on attendee or prospects needs (e.g., instead of stating that your product has won several awards, point out the cost/time savings benefits of using your product). Train your trade show booth staff to be friendly and engaging Make sure your trade show display booth staff are informed and passionate about their product or service. An enthusiastic staff acts as a magnet to attract visitors. Be Sure to Capture Leads Have your trade show display staff scan visitors business cards to get that information into your database. Follow up on leads Qualify leads by understanding where your attendees are in their purchasing cycle. Ask the right questions. And follow up on these leads after the trade show. Have an Inviting Trade Show Booth Design Make your trade show booth comfortable and open to avoid claustrophobia. Keep the flow of traffic moving and fluid. At the RSA Conference, awards were given out to trade show exhibitors who had followed these basics. One exhibitor had a car in its booth with a broken window highlighting the importance of security. Another award was given to an exhibitor that had a fun, outgoing, enthusiastic trade show booth staff that had an extremely friendly, welcoming attitude. Awards were also given to trade show booths that had clarity of message and a well-trained staff that followed through. By following these trade show basics, you will enjoy a trade show display experience that offers better results. This is true wherever you have your custom trade show display, custom modular exhibit or trade show booth rental, whether the exhibit is at the Las Vegas or Orlando Convention Center, the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the Santa Clara Convention Center or the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Writing Your Own Wedding Vows

By Reidar Aas Writing your own wedding vows can be tough. You can make it easy too, depending on how hard you try to think about it. If you sit down with your partner, and talk about it and let your minds flow it should become easy. You would first want to sit and make sure that writing your own wedding vows is something you both want to do. This should make it a lot easier on the two of you. A good way to start this is if you two were at a few weddings before think about what their wedding vows consisted of. The weddings that you were at may have been written by someone else besides the two of them though. They could have written them by themselves too. This may give the two of you some helpful hints. You are still having a hard time to find a way to start it sit down together, and talk about why you two are getting married. Make sure that the two of you are alone and that no one is going to bother you. Once you two get interrupted, it may be hard to pick up where you left off. The reasons that the two of you come up with would be a good way to start writing your wedding vows. Another good way to start it is to sit and think about what you two mean to one another. Tell each other the way you feel for one another. He may think of something totally different about you than what you think of him. Think of different meaningful statements to tell one another while your sitting there that express your feelings for one another. This will or should be very helpful to you also. Just make it as easy and as enjoyable as you can. Your wedding vows can consist of your fears, your hopes, your dreams, and your goals whether it is together or on your own. The wedding vows can also be just about your love together. It can be pretty much about anything you want it to be as long as youre writing it. To make them good wedding vows make sure the words are coming from your heart. Your wedding vows whether you write them or not is the centerpiece of the ceremony. After you think you, finished your wedding vows reread them, and make sure that you shared the right words with your love one. Remember the words that you speak on your wedding day are the words that form your marriage for the rest of your life. Step 8 To An Ideal Relationship: Don’t Play The Victim

By Nick Arrizza, M.D. In my recent article “Ten Steps To An Ideal Relationship” Step 8 advocated that one not act like a victim and not attempt to rescue victim like behaviors. Relationships are often sought out consciously or unconsciously by immature needy individuals who then take on a victim role in order to manipulate others into rescuing or caring for them. This is irresponsible behavior which undermines some of the principles I mentioned in my earlier article. When one engages or attempts to rescue victim like behaviors this fractures the trust in a relationship and irreversibly destroys it. What does it mean to play the victim in a relationship? Well it means some or all of the following: 1. Not to carry one’s fair share of the combined responsibilities that a relationship entails. 2. To let one’s partner off the hook for not carrying their fair share of responsibilities. 3. To not look after one’s emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health. 4. To not continue one’s personal growth. 5. To isolate one’s self in the relationship. 6. To use the partner as a way of interfacing with life and one’s societal and career responsibilities. 7. To engage in passive aggressive manipulative behaviors. And so on. As you can see much of this is a sign of an individual whose EMQ (Emotional Maturity Quotient: please see my article here on EMQ and assess yourself) is low and who is in need of some help. If you or your partner falls into the category of victim consciousness I would like you to know that this can be an intractable problem if not addressed in an effective manner. Clear evidence of this is the fact that most individuals who are drawn to being a victim often hold onto such identification because they “think” that it serves them in some positive way. This is absolutely false, yet despite its destructive effects on that person’s life they often tenaciously hang onto it. In either case you don’t have to be a victim of your partner’s victim complex.
